Character Canon History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superboy_(Kon-El)

Character Personality: Kon is a kid at heart, hell he has barely been alive enough to even be called a teenager.  In general, he has a very complicated set of circumstances that make him who he is.  To be absolutely blunt, he is a test tube baby.  He was created in a test tube from the DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor.

Of course, the fact that he is a clone only makes up a piece of who he really is.  In fact, one of the things that bothered him the most was the fact that he was a clone, and there was a point that he wondered if he was truly human.  Two things helped to pull him out of the funk.  The first was Superman giving him an actual name.  For the longest time, he had only been known as Superboy, nothing more and nothing less.  Superman eventually gave him the Kryptonian name of Kon-El.  Superman is an idol to Kon, the gesture of not only giving him a name, but one of the –El family meant the world to him.  It was also a large step away from the feeling of being nothing but a weapon or a replacement for Superman.  The second bout was over the thought of not having a soul.  He had asked Raven if he had a soul and was given a non positive answer.  It was a bitter pill to swallow, all humans had souls, but he didn’t.   Eventually, that thought was reversed when he was told that his soul was simply small and still growing.

In all honesty, Kon would rather cover up his problems and hide his insecurities rather than wave them all out in the open.  When he found out that Lex Luthor was the one who donated the other half of his DNA; his greatest fear was if anyone found out that he had a megalomaniac as a half DNA father, they would leave him alone.  Kon wants to be liked and feel useful; he almost needs people to approve of him in a way.  Again, this goes back to the fact that he’s still a clone and missed out on a normal childhood.

That’s not to say that he is an immature brat.  Kon was literally created to be a super hero and his sense of morality ranks up there with Superman.  Innocents are not to be harmed, and killing is simply never to happen.  Hell, he’ll even try to avoid hurting people if at all possible (though, if they were hurting other people, all bets are off).   It often seems like he’s not serious about things.  He can be a total goof off, but he is incredibly dependable when it comes to fighting the good fight (even if he stops in the middle for few moments of showboating and flirting).

Kon generally has an ego, and is beyond flirtatious sometimes.  Being a clone, he lacked a lot of the growing up that other people did, so he wasn’t shy when it came to matters of the flesh.  Though, his flirtatious nature sometimes got him into major trouble.  When he first started being Superboy, he made some decisions based on how hot a person was (or in the case of signing with the sleazy agent Rex Leech, just because his daughter was attractive).

In general Kon is simply a happy fun loving guy.  He can be reckless and headstrong, but he always means well.  He has a bit of a vain streak when it comes to his looks, but really it’s all part of his charm.   Really what it comes down to, even as a clone, Kon would be the first one to give his life for the greater good, something he has done before without a moment of hesitation.

Samples: It was normal for him, coming home late at night bruised and beaten up. Injuries, being blasted through a wall, it was all part of the gig; a gig that he wouldn’t change for the world. Hell, it was a gig that made him who he was. He was a hero, sure he could sometimes be a bit snarky while doing it, but when someone was in trouble he was there. On top of that, he enjoyed it. The part he didn’t enjoy was the walk of shame home with your hair messed up and clothes covered in three types of grime. Grime that was not leaving small spots on the floor as he made his way to the shower, he’d have to clean it up when he was done in the shower, Ma Kent wouldn’t exactly be happy about the mess left behind.

The water of the shower had to be extra hot, not because he could take it (which he could, in a way), but because the layers of filth deserved it. They deserved to be blasted away like the scum they were… literally. Tossing his clothes into a pile by the door, the clone stepped underneath the hot stream of water and started the monotonous process of de-gunking himself.

The day had been long, long and annoying. It had started off with a simple bank robbery, no problems there. But, the trip through the swamp and the beating with a large boulder had just been over kill. Over kill that made him far too sleepy for his own good, the heat from the shower lulling him into sleep. He was Superboy; sleeping standing up was no problem.

Waking up someplace that wasn’t his shower, now that was a problem. It was a problem, but nothing too unusual. Kon could count on his hands and his toes the number of times he had ended up someplace he wasn’t supposed to be. So, the question was simply what time was he in and what universe.

There were some simple rules for a superhero or an adventurer in general. One of the major ones was don’t touch glistening items. They’re probably booby-trapped and you’re going to end up dead or worse. Not that Kon listened to many of the rules, besides he was Superboy; Teen of Steel, and nigh impregnable. Sure, there was that one time when he was younger, but judo chops from bats should never count for anything. The Bat Family was a bunch of weirdos anyway, well except for Tim (sometimes anyway).

The Bat Family were also the weirdos that had random pieces of Kryptonite stashed away in the Bat Lair of DOOM. Maybe that was the reason he was feeling so disorientated, and possibly why he couldn’t remember anything past falling asleep in the shower. And it was probably why he couldn’t remember getting dressed or having someone dress him.

Either way, he was not going to stay in this little town square meeting. He was a man of action, and listening to his possible kidnappers talk and more than likely lie wasn’t something he was going to do. On top of that, with the way he was feeling he needed to get away from the area as quickly as possible. The only valid explanation for the entire scenario was there being Kryptonite someplace in his vicinity.

His head was throbbing as he moved his way down the street, using the wall to bolster up support. He couldn’t figure it out, no matter how far he got away from the square the feelings did not go away. Was this whole down made of Kryptonite, or was there something else that he was missing.

“Man, now would be a good time for someone to come and rescue me…”
